Brief Introduction

Shaohai Jiang is an assistant professor in the Department of Communications and New Media at the National University of Singapore. He got his Ph.D. in Communication from Texas A&M University in 2017. Shaohai specializes in health communication, new media, and strategic communication. His research primarily looks at how communication and technology can improve people’s health outcomes. Specifically, his projects examine patient-provider communication, eHealth and mHealth, and health campaigns and interventions. He is the associate editor for Patient Education and Counseling and Journal of Applied Communication Research. He also serves on the editorial board of Communication MonographsHealth Communication, PEC Innovation, and the book series of Cambridge Elements in Health Communication (Cambridge University Press).

Shaohai was born and raised in China. Before his doctoral studies, he worked as a communication officer for Oxfam Hong Kong, a non-profit organization.
