Dr. Park joined National University of Singapore in March 2008. She received her M.A. in Korean Linguistics and literature, majoring in Korean as a foreign language, and PhD in Linguistics, focusing on multilingualism, third language acquisition, and psycholinguistics at NUS. Dr. Park is particularly interested in studying the issues that arise when teaching languages to multilinguals, such as the effects of transfer from first and/or second languages, cognitive development and additive effect of late bilingualism. Dr. Park is actively performing at the Institute for Application of Learning Science and Educational Technology at NUS as an affiliated faculty, in leading/co-leading research projects incorperating multidisciplinary approach, learning science, and application of data science to learning.
As a founding faculty member of the Korean language programme at NUS, Dr. Park has had various experiences not only in teaching Korean as a second language but also developing the curriculum, teaching materials, and assessments at all levels. In the capacity as coordinator, she has been in charge of training Korean instructors in teaching, curriculum development, and classroom management. In addition to these supervisory roles, she has been teaching Korean language courses from novice to advanced levels both in online settings and classroom settings.
