My first forays into the world of academia began when I was an undergraduate research assistant working with Dr. Loke Wing Hong in the Social Work & Psychology Department of the National University of Singapore (NUS), way back in 1988. After obtaining my B.A. and B.Soc.Sci. (Hons.) in 1990 and 1991, I continued working as a research assistant for Dr. Loke before joining the department as a teaching assistant. I completed my masters with Assoc. Prof. Chua Fook Kee in 1995 and was sponsored by NUS to do my Ph.D. at Indiana University in Bloomington (IU). At IU, I worked at the Speech Research Laboratory with Prof. David B. Pisoni, and obtained my Ph.D. in Cognitive Science and Psychology in 2001.
I'm a card-carrying anglophile, a rabid fan of Manchester United and England, and an avid collector and player of computer games and memorabilia :-)
